Text QR Code Generator
Encode any text in a QR code: scanning it displays the message on the screen so people can read or copy it right away. Free, no sign-up.
Content
Choose what people get when they scan the code.
Fill in the details you want to share - scanning the code saves them straight to the phone as a contact card.
Scanning the code joins the network straight from the iOS and Android camera apps. The details are kept in this browser only.
Create an EPC (SEPA) payment code: banking apps in euro countries scan it to prefill a transfer - no account access is shared. Amounts are in EUR.
A full code, or a short code with a city, e.g. 9G8F+6X Berlin. Find it in Google Maps under the place's address.

How to make a text QR code in 3 steps
- Type or paste your text into the box - a short message makes the simplest pattern.
- Adjust colors, add a logo or pick a template in step 2.
- Download the PNG or SVG and test-scan it before you print it.
What happens when someone scans a text QR code
A text QR code stores exactly what you typed inside the pattern - no link and no service behind it. When a camera scans it, the phone shows the decoded text and offers to copy it, so it works the same on every device without opening a website. Current iPhones and Android phones decode it in the built-in camera app; on older phones any free scanner app does the job. Text codes suit serial numbers on equipment, instructions on posters, entry codes for a form or a short note on a card. Shorter text keeps the pattern simpler and easier to scan, so trim what you do not need, and print the code at least 2 cm wide with its white margin intact.
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. Creating, styling and downloading QR codes here costs nothing, requires no registration and adds no watermark. There is no paid version of this tool.
Do the generated QR codes expire?
No. These are static QR codes: the content is encoded directly inside the pattern, so the code itself never expires and depends on no service. A URL code keeps working as long as the website it points to stays online.
Can I use the QR codes for my business?
Yes. The codes are yours to use for any purpose, including commercial projects, products and paid advertising. No attribution is required.
Which download format should I choose?
PNG is the safest all-round choice for screens and documents, JPG is fine when file size matters, WebP gives a smaller modern file, and SVG is the one to pick for print because it scales to any size without going blurry.
Can I change the design of a QR code later?
Yes. Your content and style settings stay saved in this browser, so reopening the page brings back exactly where you left off. You can then restyle the code and download it again at any time - just remember to replace previously printed copies.
